The Gen Z’s Guide to Kickstarting a Business

Generational gaps are nothing new in the world of business. Some say the millennials are the best entrepreneurs, while others beg to disagree, saying that Gen Z does it best. But did you know that one-fifth of Australians actually belong to this demographic?

Being Gen Z means that you entered the corporate world during the pandemic, and you’re probably used to remote work and doing things a little differently than your typical entrepreneur. So, if you’re planning to start your own business, here are a few tips that you might find helpful:

  • Find out what makes you unique

Think about how other Gen Z’s approach things when buying products. Most of them would usually look for something that would add value to their lives. The truth is, you can’t rely on what you think is a great business idea because you’re going up against some strong competition out there.

So what will separate you from the others? Simple – a unique business proposition. Once you know what makes you different from others, it’s easier to convince consumers to buy your product.

  • Build your funding

Let’s face it: you can’t start a business without capital. And when you’re building a startup from scratch, you really need strong funding to get the ground up and running. The great thing is, there are so many Sydney business loans that you can apply for these days. Just make sure that you have good financial standing to qualify for these loans and provide banks with all the documents to prove the credibility of your business.

  • Create a strong business model

Your value proposition isn’t enough to get you up and running. You also need a strong business model to use as your guide in the daily operations of your business. A business model should lay out your process for marketing, sales, product development, delivery, pricing, and of course, customer experience. When you have these things in order, it’s easier to go about the day to day operations and reduce your risk for errors.

  • Get your business licences in order

Before you can start running your business, you need to fulfil all the business licences and trademarks needed to make sure that you can operate legally in your city. Since this can be quite a tedious task, you can actually ask help from professionals, although you still need to be hands on to learn about the process yourself.

Of course, it wouldn’t hurt to find a mentor who can guide you in getting your business started. As a Gen Z, it might be difficult for you to ask help from others. But if you become open to this idea, you’ll be able to navigate your way into business more easily.

Having a mentor can really do wonders for your business because you have someone to keep you grounded on the good days and cheer you up on the bad. A mentor can also help keep you afloat no matter what circumstances come your way.
